About the Firm

On your land. In your business. In your corner.

Marvel Law is the practice of Richard T. Marvel — an Illinois attorney who counsels families, landowners, and business as both a litigator and a transactional lawyer, from a downtown Bloomington office.

Richard T. Marvel

Counsel who explains your options — then gets it done.

Richard T. Marvel founded Marvel Law to give Central Illinois families, landowners, and business owners straightforward, senior-level counsel without the runaround. He works as both a transactional lawyer and a litigator — and that combination is the point: documents drafted by someone who has litigated disputes are documents built to prevent them.

Clients work directly with Rich. He returns calls, explains the law in plain language, and tells you honestly what you need — and what you don't. The goal is always the same: leave with understanding, answers, and direction.

Rich grew up on a Central Illinois family farm — five generations of the same family on the same ground. That's why this work has never been abstract to him. He knows firsthand what it takes to care for land, the quiet worry of keeping a family operation whole, and what it means to want to hand something down intact to the people who come next. It's the same thing most of his clients are working toward — whether what they're protecting is a farm, a home, a business, or a lifetime of savings.

His roots in the area run just as deep professionally. Rich earned his undergraduate degree at Illinois Wesleyan University, just blocks from the office, and has practiced law in Bloomington since 2001.

How we work

What it's like to be a client

We listen first

You're the expert on your family and your property. We start there, then explain your options in language that means something.

We draft to prevent disputes

Litigation experience shapes every document — so the plan holds up when it's actually needed.

We meet you where you are

At the Bloomington office, or by phone, video, and secure document exchange anywhere in Illinois.

"Most of the people I help aren't rock legends — they're Central Illinois families with a home, some savings, and people they love. They all have the same opportunity: to decide for themselves, while they still can."— Richard T. Marvel
